Job Description

Basic Function Overview:

Demonstrate Exceptional Customer Service Skills: Every day, the DME Representative will be talking to customers and healthcare professionals, answering questions and relaying information to pharmacists. Being a good listener and having a pleasant and cheerful demeanor is a must. Must possess strong interpersonal and “people skills”. Flexible and proactive to meet varied patient needs. Self-motivated, a self-starter and able to work independently.

Demonstrate Attention to Detail: Processing and/or filling orders wrong can cause significant delays, leading to customers not receiving their medically needed supplies on time. DME Representatives need to make sure they pay close attention to what they are doing, to ensure customer satisfaction.

Demonstrate Exceptional Organizational Skills:  A good DME Representative should be able to balance their duties and maintain an organized work area.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Hign School Diploma / GED required
  • A minimum of two years related field work
  • Computer Skills
  • Advanced customer service skills
  • Organized

Experience in the healthcare or medical fields in which incumbent has processed and/or billed for durable medical equipment is preferred. Preferred certifications: Medical Billing

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Billing private insurances, private individuals and/or Government entities for home medical equipment.
  2. Understand and comply with all governmental, regulatory and Grubb’s Care Pharmacy billing and compliance regulations/policies including but not limited to Medicare and Medicaid programs.
  3. Review HCFAS and patient invoices for appropriate coding, charges and allowables, co-pays and supporting documentation.
  4. Follow-up with payers, patients and other appropriate parties to collect open billings in a timely manner and to ensure compliance with billing regulations.
  5. Identify and report to management payer issues with regards to billing and collection.
  6. Coordinate all patient information and process paperwork.
  7. Establish and maintain patient records and record appropriate patient and rental information in each record.
  8. The ability to maintain a flexible schedule to accommodate unplanned events and participate in seminars and fairs is essential.
  9. The ability to read, write and follow written and oral instructions is required to ensure accurate completion of DME orders
  10. Develop and maintain working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the pharmacy and all applicable insurance guidelines respecting eligibility for coverage and reimbursement.
  11. Process accounts and maintain appropriate records in a timely manner.
  12. Good organization and prioritization skills are required to plan/ process daily work load
  13. Demonstrates timeliness, courtesy, sincerity and patience when working with clients.
  14. Represents the company in a positive and professional manner at all times. This includes communicating and behaving professionally and effectively with customer, colleagues, healthcare professionals, insurance companies, vendors, etc.
  15. Promotes teamwork among co-workers that includes assisting fellow representatives, as needed.
  16. Adheres to company and accreditation standards
  17. Follow Grubb’s Pharmacy policies and procedures
  18. Other duties assigned by management

Essential Physical Requirements:

  1. Lifting – up to 50 lbs
  2. Bending, climbing, standing, sitting for long periods of time
  3. Regular and continuous eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity is required to set up durable medical equipment.
  4. Frequent bending, twisting, grasping and squeezing and occasional kneeling. Climbing stairs, reaching above the shoulder is required to retrieve, store and set up durable medical equipment
  5. Ability to use basic tools (e.g. screwdrivers, wrench, etc.) to set up durable medical equipment
  6. Maintain a neat, clean personal appearance.
